The Bible says that as Christians, we are God’s children and co-heirs with Christ, but do we act like we are kings who have the kingdom of Heaven at our disposal? Or, do we act like beggars, slaves and laborers?
I don’t know about you, but it’s hard for me to separate worldly thinking from Heavenly thinking. In the world, what we get is dependent on what we do. For example, if you work overtime and take on the extra projects, you may get a raise, a bonus or a promotion. So, it’s easy to see why we sometimes think that our prayers, tithes, church attendance, etc. are tied to God’s blessings. For those who are in Christ, our blessings from God are dependent on what Jesus did and not on what we do. Prayers, tithes, church attendance, etc. is for YOUR benefit and not to earn God’s blessings.
In other words, God does not withhold blessings from us based on our obedience. That was the law and Jesus fulfilled the law. Now, we get all of the blessings without the curse! If we aren’t receiving God’s blessings, it’s a receiving issue and not a supply issue. It would be like someone going to an “all you can eat buffet” and drinking only a glass of water. Ridiculous! God’s supply is endless, so get a BIG plate and partake of God’s blessings!
Romans 8 – 32 Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else? (NLT)
Let’s Pray: My Generous God, Thank You for sending Jesus to give me the opportunity to become an heir to Your Kingdom. Thank You for giving me everything I need and fulfilling the desires of my heart just because You love me. Help me remember that You want to shower me with blessings and prepare me to receive all that You want to give me. In the name of Jesus Christ I pray. Amen.
