What is the Bible?

Holy Bible

The Holy Bible is the best-selling book in history and the greatest love story ever!  It is a compilation of sacred writings which are the historical account of God’s creation of us and our natural world.

The Bible is also the story of God’s perfect love for imperfect people.  Everyone has a desire to be loved and everyone IS loved unconditionally by God.  God created you in His image and He wants a relationship with you.  Your feelings about God do not change His love for you.  He has been pursuing you, but He will not force you to love Him because that isn’t love.  He gave us the free will to love Him or not love Him.

In the first book of the Bible, Satan, an angel who used his free will to reject God, enticed Adam and Eve to believe his lies and eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil (i.e. tree of death).  Their free will choice resulted in immediate spiritual death and ultimate physical death, as well as a damaged relationship with God.  But God loves us and wants a relationship with us, so He provided ways for us to be forgiven and receive His blessings.  Under the Old Testament law, the Israelites were reconciled to Him through obedience to laws and the sacrifice of animals.  Everyone can now choose to be reconciled to God by faith in the obedience and sacrifice of Jesus.

We all have two opposing spiritual forces in our lives – God and Satan.

GOD wants to give us an abundant life full of LOVE and Satan wants to destroy us.

John 10:10 – The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy.  I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.  (NKJV)

God is more powerful than Satan, but He has allowed Satan a limited time to exist in this world because freedom to choose is the essence of love, and God is love.

The BIBLE is a story of LOVE and WAR:

God’s LOVE for His children and

Satan’s WAR against God’s children.

Satan and his spiritual army will eventually be destroyed in the lake of fire and burning sulfur.

Revelation 20:10 – The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.  (NKJV)

Afterwards, everything will be restored to perfection as God designed it, and believers in Jesus, the Christ, will live eternally in peace and perfect relationship with God and Jesus (Revelation 21).

Let’s Pray:  Father God, give me a desire to read Your Word (the Bible) so I can know You and Your unconditional love for me.  Jesus, thank You for dying on the cross for me and I pray that You will give me a revelation of Your great sacrifice for me.  Holy Spirit, thank You for empowering me with all the power of Jesus so I can share His love with others.
